What? Are you kidding me? You want me to read through the entire Bible in just 90 days? The last time I read through the Bible it took me 14 months, so how in the world can I read it in just a measly 90 days?
I thought it was a crazy idea too when I came across, ironically enough, Bible in 90 Days.
I did some calculations and figured out that in my ESV Bible that I would need to read roughly 12 pages a day. That’s right just 12 pages a day. I read way more than that when I read other books. However there is a significant difference which makes it slightly more challenging. My ESV text is much smaller than traditional text and it is two column.
However 3 days into it and I’m actually ahead of schedule. How can this be? It’s not because I’m a genius. I’m not. It is simply because the Bible is God’s Word! And that excites me. It’s been thrilling to read through the lives of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to see how God provided for each of them in different ways, and how they loved and served the Lord.
It’s encourages me to know that God will also provide for me if I just trust and follow Him.
There are many resources over at Bible in 90 Days to assist you while reading through the Scriptures. They offer weekly lessons and links to audio. You will need to join but it’s a free service. I highly recommend this resource!
There are several reasons to read the Bible, here a but a few of them.
“But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.”
(Philippians 3:7-8 ESV)
“How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word.”
(Psalms 119:9 ESV)
“I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”
(Psalms 119:11 ESV)
“I will delight in your statutes; I will not forget your word.”
(Psalms 119:16 ESV)
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
(Psalms 119:105 ESV)
“Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.”
(Proverbs 30:5 ESV)
If you don’t read the Bible then you can’t follow God or know Him.
“If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love.”
(John 15:10-11 ESV)
